The 2018 presidential elections in Brazil were marked by a strong popular movement called #ELENÃO (Not Him). The main goal was to protest against Jair Bolsonaros campaign and his homophobic, racist and violent statements.

The movement took place in the streets, but social media was also used as a weapon to expose the politician’s conservative points of view and mostly to convince undecided voters to choose his opponent Fernando Haddad.

These series of images were posted on Instagram Stories and contains a list of reasons why Haddad was a better option. The items were divided by these areas: human rights, the economy, gun control, environmental protection and a bio from the politician.

After Bolsonaro’s victory, these posters were developed as a way to encourage and support the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil. The key message was “Resist to Exist”.
